.....*....."dreams of untold strangeness".....*.....

He was watching her feed the fish.
"So mechanical," he thought, "Yet she is graceful in her own way. I wonder..."
His mind once again strayed to it's familiar ground.
No one had done this before.
It was not supposed to be done.
But he knew he could.
Just a few easy procedures...
And then she'd be almost real.
"Would that be fair to her?" he thought.
"Master?" She had finished the feeding and was standing in front of him.
"Please call me Murphy," he sighed.
"Sir, '"Murphy"' does not compute," she said, staring blankly.
"Never mind. What is it?"
"When do you want me to give you the tested soil?" she asked, rubbing two pennies together.
He watched her fingers rub the coins. She was so different from all other robots he'd built.
She was so real...
Yet...not at all...
But there was something that he must have done differently when making her.
None of his other creations had so much flexibilty or movement.
If it wasn't for some of her phrases ("Does not compute") she could pass for real.
"Sir, can I bring it to you now?" she questioned, dropping the coins in actual aggitation.
He heard her whisper, "Damn" as the coins broke delicately on the linoleum floor.
"No, and don't clean that up," he said.
She looked angry that she could not and tilted her head, her empty eyes suddenly seeming so full...of emotion; impatience.
"Sir, you'll trod on it. Break off a toe," she said.
"Go to the study and learn your alphabelt backwords," he said.
"Again?" she whined, "I did that this morning!"
But she turned and walked off.
He ran to his work bench and pulled out the equipment that he would need:
1 Rose
5 Rubber bands
2 fleas
1 Blue Light Saber
25 m&m's
and finally
1 pail of love from his heart
He quickly blended it all in the blender.
His hands shaking, he removed the cup and smelled the contents.
A blast of flavour; but smelling good.
"Please come here," he called, remembering that she did not have a name.
She walked in twidling her fingers around a black board.
"Drink this," he said, handing her the cup.
She looked curiously at the substance and then emtied it in her mouth.
She began to spark and jitter oddly...
Suddenly, she stopped and simply stood still.
"I LOVE YOU..." he said.
Her eyes turned towards him and for one fleeting moment, he saw desperation, desire, and true love.
Then, they all dissapeared.
"Does not compute," she said as her eyes went blank again...
